Accessory to War:  The Unspoken Alliance Between Astrophysics and the Military, by Neil deGrasse Tyson and Avis Lang (New York & London: W. W. Norton & Co., 2018), pp. xvi, 231.  Citations below from page numbers in hardback first edition.

Simply one the best recent books of the genre of explaining complicated scientific and political (and industrial!) developments for the reading public.  Tyson’s experiences and understandings are here shaped (as he says in the Prologue) by his longtime editor and in this case co-author Lang and her “consummate” researching, avid writing and “sustained commitment to examining the role of science in society.”  Readers of other works of Tyson will recognize his sense of humor and often ironic turn of phrase; a particular delight in this book was its consistent exploration of the etymology of scientific, industrial and scientific terms.
